Every kid wants a birthday party friends will talk about at school on Monday. A foam party does that. It takes an ordinary backyard, park or neighborhood common area and turns it into something nobody forgets.
We have run foam birthdays across Nashville and Middle Tennessee, for kids, teens and adults. Here is how to plan one.
Why Foam Works for Birthdays
- It needs no explanation. Kids see the foam and know what to do.
- It works for mixed ages. Little siblings, friends and parents can all join in.
- It saves you work. With a full-service party, we set up, run the music and host the fun.
- It makes great photos. Foam-covered kids and big smiles are hard to beat.
Party Ideas by Age
Ages 3 to 5. Keep it short and gentle. Let little ones approach the foam at their own pace. Add a bubble party if you want something calmer.
Ages 6 to 10. This is the sweet spot. Foam games, a dance contest and lots of free play will fill your hour easily.
Tweens and teens. A glow foam party after dark feels more like a concert than a kids’ party. Music matters, so ask for their favorites.
Adults. Milestone birthdays are fair game. Foam at night with good music is a real party.

Theme Ideas
You do not need a theme, but a simple one can tie everything together:
- Beach party, with towels and beach balls
- Glow party, with neon shirts and glow sticks
- Pool party without the pool
- Superhero foam mission
- Under the sea, with blue decorations and treats
A Simple Party Timeline
Here is a schedule that works for most two-hour parties:
- First 15 minutes: guests arrive and change. Put out towels and a spot for shoes and bags.
- Next 15 minutes: snacks, a quick game or presents, if you want to do them first.
- Next hour: foam time. Music on, foam on.
- Last 30 minutes: dry off, change clothes, cake and goodbyes.
Doing cake after the foam works best. Nobody wants to stop for cake once the foam is going, and everyone is hungry afterward.
What to Plan For
- Space: an open outdoor area of at least 20 by 20 feet. We recommend pavement, though grass works too.
- Water and power: we need a water source and a power outlet nearby.
- Neighbors: a quick heads-up about the music is always appreciated.
- HOA rules: check whether your neighborhood has any rules about events.
- Clothing: ask guests to bring a swimsuit, towel, water shoes and dry clothes.
- Drinking water: have plenty on hand.
Our foam is hypoallergenic and non-toxic.

Full Service or Rental?
A full-service foam party lets you enjoy the party with your child. A foam machine rental is a good choice if you want to run the machine yourself, and our team will explain how it works before your event.
One of our favorite birthdays was a backyard party in Brentwood, complete with a food truck, a water slide and millions of bubbles. Every party is different, and we love helping you make yours your own.
Choosing a Location in Nashville
Not every family has a big backyard, and that is fine. Here are some other places to consider:
- Neighborhood common area: many HOAs allow resident events. Ask your management company.
- Clubhouse lawn: often a great fit if your community has one.
- Church field: many churches will welcome a party if you ask.
- City park: parks can have rules and permit requirements, so check before you book.
- A friend or relative’s yard: a big yard can make the whole thing easier.
Wherever you go, make sure there is a water source and power within reach, since foam machines need both. Bring photos of the space when you talk to us, or send us the address so we can take a look.
What to Put on the Invitation
Good invitations prevent a lot of last-minute questions. Include:
- This is a foam party, so kids will get wet
- Wear a swimsuit and shoes that can get wet
- Bring a towel and a change of clothes
- The start and end time
- Whether parents should stay
- Any plan for bad weather
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a foam party okay for a 3-year-old? Many young children enjoy it, but take it slowly and keep an adult close. For very young guests, a bubble party may be a better fit.
How much notice do you need? The earlier the better, especially for spring and summer weekends. A 50% deposit holds your date.
Do you bring music? Yes. A full-service party includes music and a host.
Can we rent a machine instead? Yes. A foam machine rental is a good choice for a backyard party when you want to run things yourself.
What should we do with gifts and cake? Keep them inside or well away from the foam, and plan them for before or after foam time.
